She shudders to think she has over twenty years experience in business strategy. She is however very proud of her reputation as a great strategic thinker. Joan enjoys working with people of all levels within an organisation and she is passionate about the success of everyone she’s had the pleasure to meet or serve.

Her career has embraced financial services, telecommunications, education, sport and other diverse industries in both executive and consultancy roles.

She holds a Bachelor of Strategic Management and Marketing; however it’s her experience and passion for new concepts in communications and marketing which makes her business, Macrison unique.

She has held executive management roles across sales, marketing, consulting and operations. Her career has spanned national and regional responsibilities with positions covering Australia and Asia.

Joan gets the power of Marketing and Communications strategies and her approach is to ensure these activities generate business results in accordance with executive goals.

Many consider Joan a visionary who can take business issues or problems and develop products, strategies and / or solutions that have generated great success and innovation.

Biography:

In 1999 she established the Marketing and Communications entity, Macrison. Her aim was to create the sort of marketing and communications company she never found throughout her extensive corporate career. The organisation works on building customer business from plans to profits with a one stop shop for all services. Macrison utilizes fixed pricing elements to show it’s belief in its own abilities and to take accountability to its clients for its actions.

Prior to that Joan worked at American Express as the Regional Director, Strategic Merchant Relations, ANZ and South Pacific, responsible for the $9bn(USD) business.  She managed all facets of the Credit Card and Merchant Services, handling both the commercial and operational roles, meeting business requirements and delivering aggressive revenue growth in merchant acquisition throughout the region.

Prior to American Express, she spent some time at Telstra in various roles encompassing, operations and marketing. Her last role before leaving Telstra was Director Strategic Alliances where she was instrumental in strategy development for the deregulation of the telecommunications industry.

Her passion for success emerged in her youth through her exploits in sport. She is a former Australian Champion and Australian Representative in sailing! She has been a state level squash player, a triathlete and  is a keen golfer, her lowest handicap being 10. Even today Joan loves nothing more than ‘having a go!’ She’s traveled extensively; obtained a pilots license and has even bungee jumped!

Formerly a Governor on the Board of the NSW Golf Foundation she continues to have an active role in the development of the sport. In her role as Governor on the NSW Golf Foundation  she provided expertise in revenue raising and funds distribution, marketing and public relations. She is also a Member of the AICD, the NSW Chamber of Commerce and the Australian Institute of Marketing.

Joan is very approachable and is always willing to explore possibilities and opportunities. She is the face of Macrison. She leads the team from the front and has a loyal team of supporters and contractors that help make Macrison the company it is today.
